MERION STATION, Pa. - The La Salle men's tennis team closed out the 2021 regular season on Sunday with a matchup against Atlantic 10 foe Saint Joseph's. The Explorers dropped a 6-1 decision to the Hawks, with senior
Colin Lucius earning a singles win at No. 4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a fairly evenly contested doubles point, Lucius and junior Nassim Fenjiro won at No. 2 but SJU won at Nos. 1 and 3 to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Lucius squared off against former teammte Francesco Mowrey, who played at La Salle for three seasons before transferring prior to 2019-20.
- Lucius took the first set, 6-4, before Mowrey came back to win a second-set tiebreak.
- The third super-tiebreaker went in favor of Lucius, 10-8, to earn his team a point.
- Freshman Dylan Tull also took his match to a third-set tiebreak, but his opponent Luis Janko won by a 10-8 margin.
UP NEXT
- The Explorers await seeding for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be contested at the USTA's National Campus in Orlando, Fla., beginning Thursday, April 29.
