Women's Tennis | May 3, 2018

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle University head women's tennis coach Chad Hamilton has announced that Jazmin Walle (Ellicott City, Maryland) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Explorers for the 2018-19 season.

A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., Walle began her tennis career at the age of 10 by winning the New York City Mayor's Cup. Consistently ranked in the top 30 in the United States Tennis Association Mid-Atlantic Region, Walle has competed both nationally and internationally.

"A player of Jazmin's experience and caliber will raise the bar and the dynamics of the women's tennis program," Hamilton said. "Her coach, Rozzell Lightfoot, has done a great job preparing her for collegiate tennis. For next year and in years to come, we will look to build around Jazmin as we build upon this past season's results."

In 2017, she took part in both the Junior Australian Open and the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship in Florida. She has also traveled across the world for tournaments in New Zealand, Barbados, Trinidad, Cayman Islands and the Bahamas.

Walle and her doubles partner advanced to the semifinals of the Cayman Islands ITF Junior Championships in 2016, and she achieved her highest ITF World Junior ranking of #1122 in May 2017.

In his first season as head coach, Hamilton helped the La Salle women's tennis team shatter last season's win total, and accumulated more wins in 2017-18 than in their previous four seasons combined.
