PHILADELPHIA – Tom Gola Arena will host a Saturday matinee as the La Salle women's basketball team (3-17, 0-6 A-10) are set to square off with Richmond (4-15, 1-5 A-10). Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. with the game airing on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle has dropped its last eight games, most recently falling to Duquesne, 66-62. Leading for most of the first three quarters, the Explorers couldn't hold off a late run by the Dukes. In the game, three Explorers registered double-digit point totals with junior Shalina Miller claiming a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
- Sophomore Rayshel Brown scored 10+ points for her fourth consecutive game after dropping a game high 14 against Duquesne.
- At least one Explorer has scored a career high in points in eight of the last 12 games.
- Over the last 15 games, La Salle has posted a +25 turnover margin, with six negative outings. Over that span, the team has collected 145 steals - good enough for 9.7 per contest.
- The Explorers are first in the A-10 in both steals (186) and steals per game (9.3). The 186 steals has La Salle ranked 37th nationally.
- The game against Richmond will be the fifth of six consecutive games in the city of Philadelphia for the Explorers.
- Sophomore Rayshel Brown is the team's active leading scorer with 8.3 points per game. Classmate Michelle Nicholls (7.6 ppg) and junior Shalina Miller (7.3 ppg) are the next top scorers.
- On the glass, junior Shalina Miller (6.4) and senior Jeryn Reese (6.1) are topping the team in rebounds.
- Junior Shalina Miller is ranked fifth in program history in blocks with 85 and is currently second in the conference in blocks with 36. Her 36 deflections also has Miller ranked 31st in the nation. The Philadelphia, Pa. native also ranks second in the A-10 with 1.8 blocks per outing.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS:
- Richmond enters Saturday's game with a 4-15 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the Atlantic 10. Most recently, the Spiders took down Saint Joseph's 46-45 in Richmond.
- The Spiders hold the worst scoring offense and third worst scoring defense in the conference, dropping just 51.9 ppg and allowing 67.1 ppg.
- Alex Parson paces the Spiders with 10.6 points per outing. The sophomore is shooting 29.0% from the floor, taking an average of 13.1 shots per contest.
THE SERIES:
- Richmond holds the all-time series, 19-7, including 12 of the last 13 games.
- In the series that dates back to 1987, La Salle's last win came on the road in 2017. The Explorers last victory over Richmond in Philadelphia came back in 2004.
- Overall, the Spiders are 8-5 in Philadelphia against La Salle.
