Men's Cross Country | November 15, 2019
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Junior
Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky finished in the top 30 to lead the La Salle University men's cross country team to a ninth place showing at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional on Friday. La Salle concludes its season at regionals with 260 points for ninth out of 25 teams.
"It's always tough bouncing back from an emotional weekend like we had at A-10's a couple weeks ago," said head coach
Tom Peterson. "We had a lot of positives today, but the chips don't always fall into place how you want them to. Overall, we ended up right around where we were projected and we just continue to make progress."
WHERE THEY FINISHED
- After placing third at the Atlantic 10 Championships, Jaciw-Zurakowsky was seventh after a mile and nearly earned all-region status as he finished 27th among 191 entrants with a time of 30:58.0.
- Sophomore Ibrahim Kedir was 16th at the 8K mark and finished the 10K course in 31:22.4 to come in 40th place overall.
- Redshirt senior Anthony Hawthorne wrapped up his cross country career with a solid showing in 45th place, crossing the course in 31:27.9, the best regional finish of his career.
- Junior Ryan James clocked in at 31:58.1 to come in 60th, while freshman Alex Sandras made it five Explorers in the top 100 by placing 89th in 32:25.8.
- Junior Joe Boyle and freshman Dylan Servis also competed in the race, though the Explorers were without redshirt senior Nathan Gillis, who finished 57th at last year's regional.
RECAPPING THE YEAR
- The Explorers won their 10th Atlantic 10 title in 20 years this season and had three all-conference members in Jaciw-Zurakowsky, Kedir and Hawthorne.
