NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Freshman sprinter Chris Lewis of the La Salle University men's track and field team was honored as the Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Rookie Performer of the Week on Tuesday following his performance over the weekend.

It's the second A-10 Rookie of the Week accolade for Lewis, who previously took the honor on Jan. 15 after his first collegiate indoor meet.

Lewis, a member of the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team and a bronze medalist in the 200 meters at A-10's during the indoor season, opened his collegiate outdoor career with a win in the 100-meter dash. He finished the sprint in 10.77 seconds, beating out 16 competitors for the title at the Penn Challenge from Franklin Field on Saturday.

Lewis and the Explorers will compete again this weekend at the Fred Hardy Invitational and the Florida Relays.
