ORLANDO, Fla. - The third-seeded University of Massachusetts women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Championships with a 4-0 win over La Salle on Wednesday. The match was played on the United States Tennis Association's National Campus.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Minutewomen earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to take an early 1-0 lead.
- In singles action, senior Brittany Poje put up a strong fight against Ruth Crawford at No. 3.
- The two players were set to begin a first-set tiebreaker after splitting the first 12 games evenly at 6-6.
- Unfortunately for Poje and the Explorers, UMass secured the team win with straight-set victories at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6.
- Massachusetts will face No. 6 Richmond on Thursday, with an opportunity to advance to the A-10 semifinals.
