PHILADELPHIA - Five singles matches went the full three sets as the La Salle women's tennis team battled St. Bonaventure to a near stalemate on Saturday. Unfortunately for the Explorers, the Bonnies were victorious in three of those matches and won the doubles point en route to a 5-2 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After the Bonnies earned three wins in doubles to take a 1-0 lead, singles action began and the visitors took the first set in all six matches.
- La Salle battled back and earned second-set wins in five matches, including a pair of 6-1 decisions at No. 1 (Tiffany Theophil) and No. 2 (Ali Snyder).
- Snyder and senior Brittany Poje continued to build on their momentum in the third, winning each of their matches.
- SBU was able to regroup, however, and post a trio of third-set victories to go along with a straight-set triumph at No. 6.
- Freshman Jazmin Walle nearly had a third win for the Explorers at No. 5, but fell in a super-tiebreaker, 13-11, in the third.
UP NEXT
- La Salle will take on Rider in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, April 9, in Lawrenceville, N.J.
