PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team will have another pair of fresh faces joining the team this fall with the addition of
Amy Jacobs and
Claire Jacobs, head coach
Mountain MacGillivray announced Thursday. The Jacobs girls will be the third set of sisters to play together in program history after Chris and Liesel Hud in the mid-seventies and Antonia and Ashley Gale in the mid-2000s.
"I am very excited to have Claire and Amy join our program," MacGillivray said. "With three players and a coach under one roof, basketball matters in their house and they have prepared for the opportunity to come here and impact our program."
Hailing from over 11,500 miles away in Perth, Australia, Amy and Claire graduated from Kennedy Baptist College in 2018.
Claire finished 2018 as the Australian School D1 Finals MVP as part of the championship team. In 2017-18, the 6-0 guard led the Australian U18 State Team in scoring and ranked 14
th in the country during the Australian National Championships. In addition to playing for the U18 team, Claire also played with the Lakeside Lightning in the WABL, earning all-star honors from 2014 through 2018.
Amy was also on the team that won the Australian School D1 Finals with her sister. She was the WABL MVP runner up in 2016, 2017, and 2018. During the 2018 season, her team won the SBL and the D League titles.
