Matt Brooks

Women's Soccer | August 2, 2019

PHILADELPHIA – With more than 20 years of club coaching experience, Matt Brooks has been hired as an assistant coach for the La Salle women's soccer program, head coach Paul Royal announced Friday. Brooks spent the 2019 spring season as a volunteer coach with the program.

"We're very excited about having Matt join our staff as a full-time coach," Royal said. "I've had the privilege to have known Matt for the last 20 years and I feel he'll bring so much energy and knowledge that will elevate our program.  After volunteering last spring, Matt showed Courtney [Niemiec] and I, and more importantly our team, that he possesses the character to inspire and motivate our girls to reach new heights.  His compassionate personality and ability to bring the best out of each player will go a long way in getting our program back to consistently winning championships and NCAA Tournament appearances."

Brooks has seen a wealth of success coaching with SJEB Rush since 2016. In each of the past three years, the club has made is to the State Cup, claiming the title in each of the past two. Prior to that, he spent time coaching with REAL New Jersey Soccer Club, Medford Soccer Club, and Eastern FC Soccer.

In addition to his experience as a coach, Brooks played professionally for the Philadelphia Kixx in the Major Indoor Soccer League from 2001-05. He also spent two seasons with the South Jersey Barons and 13 years overseas in the United Kingdom.
