PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (9-14, 3-7 A-10) is scheduled for a mid-week battle in the nation's capital against George Washington (10-13, 4-6 A-10) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will air live on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters play at 9-14, 3-7 A-10 under second year head coach Mountain MacGillivray.
- The Blue & Gold look to rebound after falling in its last two games at Fordham and against Richmond.
- Freshman Claire Jacobs is leading the team in scoring this season with 13.2 ppg and 15.2 ppg in league games. The Aussie is shooting 37.0% from the floor and 33.6% from three-point land. Jacobs has dropped 10+ points in 14 games, 15+ in 10 games, and 20+ in five games.
- Sophomore Kayla Spruill is second on the team in scoring (10.3 ppg) and rebounding (5.8 rpg). The Baltimore, Md. native has been consistent this season with 10 or more points in 13 games and 15 or more in four.
- Freshmen Jordon Lewis (7.9 ppg) and Amy Jacobs (6.9 ppg) round out the Explorers' top four scorers. The quartet is accounting for 61.0% of the tea,' scoring this season.
- Senior Shalina Miller had a career high eight blocks in her most recent game. She leads the team with 2.6 bpg and 7.6 rpg. Miller broke the program's all-time record earlier this season and is closing in on breaking the single-season record, which she set a year ago.
- Junior Kate Hill is fresh off a nine-assist performance, pushing her team and conference leading assist to turnover ratio to 2.81. Hill also leads the Explorers in assists (101) and assist per game (4.6).
- La Salle is averaging 61.7 ppg and allows its opponents to score 67.3.
SCOUTING THE COLONIALS:
- George Washington is 10-13 overall and 4-6 in league play under fourth year head coach Jen Rizzotti.
- Alexandra Maund is pacing the Colonials with 10.1 ppg and is the only scorer in double figures.
- Kayla Mokwuah tops the team with 5.0 rebounds per outing.
- GW is scoring 55.6 points on average, giving up 61.0.
THE SERIES:
- GW holds the all-time record, 37-5 dating back to the first matchup in 1981.
- The Colonials have taken six straight contests since 2015.
- La Salle's last victory was in the nation's capital during the 2014-15 season. The Blue & Gold took the game 77-68 on Jan. 25.
