Women’s Basketball Concludes Regular Season at George Mason; Seeding for A-10 Championship Up for Grabs

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (12-16, 6-8 A-10) conclude the regular season on Saturday at George Mason (9-19, 3-12 A-10). Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. inside EagleBank Arena with the game airing live on ESPN+. The result of the game will affect the Explorers playoff seeding for the Atlantic 10 Championship.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle fell in heart break fashion to Davidson on Wednesday to push its record to 12-16, 6-9 A-10.
  • The Blue & Gold will finish between ninth and eleventh in the league after the regular season concludes on Saturday and could play either Richmond, Davidson, George Washington, and Duquesne in the Atlantic 10 Championship First Round on Tuesday.
  • Rookie Claire Jacobs leads the Explorers with 13.8 ppg and 15.7 ppg in league play. She's shooting 37.7% from the floor, 32.6% from long range, and 77.9% from the stripe. Jacobs has scored in double figures in her last nine games and 19 total.
  • Sophomore Kayla Spruill is second in both scoring (10.4) and rebounding (6.0). The Baltimore, Md. native has registered 10 or more points in 13 of her last 16 games and 17 overall.
  • Freshmen Jordon Lewis (7.3) and Amy Jacobs (6.9) round out the top four scorers for the Explorers. The quartet is accounting for 61.8% of the team's scoring this season. Freshmen and sophomores make up 67.8%.
  • Senior Shalina Miller paces La Salle in rebounds (7.5) and blocks (2.8) per game. Miller reset the program's single season blocks record against VCU and broke the all-time record earlier this season. She currently leads the Atlantic 10 in both blocks (78) and blocks per game, while ranking 11th and 13th in the nation, respectively. After last game, Miller is 15th all-time in the Atlantic 10 with 191 career blocks.
  • Junior Kate Hill has established herself as one of the best ball handlers in the nation. Hill leads the Atlantic 10 in assist to turnover ratio at 2.90, which ranks ninth in the country. She's also second in the league in assists (116) and assists per game (4.3).
  • La Salle is scoring 61.3 ppg and allowing 65.5.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS:
  • George Mason enters play at 9-19 overall and 3-12 in league play under seventh-year head coach Nyla Milleson. The Patriots have dropped four of its last five games with the lone win coming over Saint Joseph's.
  • Mason is led by the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, Nicole Cardano-Hillary with 18.2 ppg.
  • Jacy Bolton is the team's leading rebounder with 5.2 per outing.
  • The Patriots record 60.6 ppg and give up 64.9 ppg.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • La Salle defeated the Patriots in the first matchup this season, 77-65, inside Tom Gola Arena.
  • Rookie twins Amy Jacobs and Claire Jacobs combined for 43 points in the victory, led by Claire with a rookie record 29.
  • Collectively, the squad shot 44.0% from the floor, 34.6% from long range, and 85.7% from the line – all topping the Patriots.
  • Senior Shalina Miller had a game high 12 rebounds and five blocks.
THE SERIES:
  • After the victory over George Mason earlier this season, La Salle leads the series 7-5.
  • The Explorers have won two-straight games against the Patriots, but have not claimed a win on the road since 2014.
  • Mason holds the edge in Fairfax 3-2 all-time.
