Women’s Basketball Looks for Fourth Straight Home Win on Sunday

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's basketball team (9-13, 3-6 A-10) is seeking its fourth straight home win on Sunday when Richmond (10-13, 3-6 A-10) comes to Tom Gola Arena. The Explorers are hoping to avenge a loss from earlier this season at Richmond at 2 p.m. La Salle will honor four members of the program before the game for Senior Day.
 
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle enters play at 9-13 overall and 3-6 in league play after falling at Fordham in its most recent matchup.
  • The Blue & Gold have claimed its last three homes games and is looking to make it four in a row on Sunday.
  • Freshman Claire Jacobs is the team's leading scorer with 13.2 points per game and is shooting 37.1% from the floor and 34.4% from long range. The Perth, Australia native has upped her average in league play to 15.4 ppg. She's scored 10+ in 13 games, 15+ in 10 games, and 20+ in five games.
  • Sophomore Kayla Spruill is second in scoring (10.1 ppg) and rebounding (5.8 rpg). The Baltimore, Md. native has scored 10+ in 12 games this season and 15+ in four. She had a stellar game at Richmond a few weeks ago with 18 points and nine rebounds.
  • Freshmen Jordon Lewis (7.7 ppg) and Amy Jacobs (7.3 ppg) round out the Explorers top four scorers. The quartet are accounting for 60.9% of the team's scoring this season.
  • Senior Shalina Miller broke the program's all-time blocks record in the Explorers and Spiders first matchup. She leads the team with 51 blocks, 2.3 bpg, and 7.5 rpg.
  • Junior Kate Hill is the team's leader in assists with 92 on the season and 4.4 per game. Not only does she pace the team, but the entire conference in assist to turnover ratio at 2.7.
  • La Salle is scoring 61.8 ppg this season and allowing opponents 67.4.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS:
  • Richmond is 10-13, 3-6 A-10 under first year head coach Aaron Roussell. Roussell took over the Spiders' program after a successful stint at Bucknell.
  • The Spiders have a trio of double-digit scorers in Jaide Hinds-Clarke (10.8 ppg), Claire Holt (10.5 ppg) and Kate Klimkiewicz (10.4 ppg).
  • Hinds-Clarke also paces Richmond on the boards with 5.4 per game.
  • The Spiders are averaging 61.2 points per outing and allowing 63.9.
THE SERIES:
  • Richmond holds the series record 22-7 after a 63-61 victory earlier this season in Virginia.
  • The Spiders have taken 16 of the past 17 games, including the last six.
  • La Salle's last win came during the 2016- 17 season in Richmond and last at home was January 25, 2004.
