PHILADELPHIA – After a quick 2-0 start to the spring 2021 campaign, the La Salle women's soccer team looks to continue the hot start on Thursday when it travels to NJIT for a 3 p.m. match.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle is off to a record start with 13 goals and 37 points – the most in program history through two games.
- In the victory over Delaware State, the squad set single game marks in points (27)/goals (9) and tied in assists (9).
- In total, 11 Explorers have registered a point through two games with five scoring goals.
- Rookies Kelli McGroarty and Caitlin Donovan lead the charge with seven points apiece, both with three goals and an assist.
- Senior Amirah Louketis is fresh off a hat trick against the Hornets.
- Freshman Madison McCready is leading the team with three assists after she tied the program's single game record against DSU with three.
- Defensively, La Salle is yet to allow a goal this season with redshirt-freshman Jordynn Stallard posting a pair of complete game shutouts with five total saves.
SCOUTING THE HIGHLANDERS:
- NJIT is led by La Salle alum and former assistant coach, Ally Nick (nee Kenney). Nick played under Explorers' coach Paul Royal from 2006-09 and was on staff from 2010-15.
- The Highlanders are 1-0 entering Thursday's match after a 3-1 win over Drexel on Sunday.
- Corbin Reifschneider tallied two goals for NJIT, followed by Alexis Ocampo with the other.
- In net, both Molly Saylor and Cassidy Landis played a half. Each accrued three saves, with Landis giving up one goal.
