PHILADELPHIA – La Salle University Director of Athletics Brian Baptiste announced Tuesday that head field hockey coach MaKayla Hancock has resigned from her position to pursue other career opportunities.

"We want to thank MaKayla for leading our field hockey program, and appreciate her dedication to the student-athlete experience," Baptiste said. "We wish her the best of luck in this next chapter of her journey."

Hancock was elevated from assistant coach to head coach at La Salle following the 2019 season, and also served as an assistant at Northeastern and Providence prior to making the move to Philadelphia.

"I am blessed and extremely thankful to the student-athletes, alumni, coaching staff, and administration I have had the pleasure of working with during my time at La Salle," Hancock said. "This is a special place with even better people. It is bittersweet to be closing this chapter of my life, but I am excited for what's next. I wish La Salle Athletics and the field hockey program much success. Go Explorers!"

A national search for a replacement will begin immediately.
