PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's soccer team returns home in search of its second straight win at McCarthy Stadium on Saturday evening, when it hosts Rider. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. The match will air live on ESPN+. All spectators will be asked to adhere to the
new spectator policy established earlier this week.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle (1-3) traveled to Maryland for a pair of challenging non-conference games last weekend, dropping a heartbreaker to UMBC in overtime before falling to Navy on Sunday.
- The Explorers held a 2-1 lead against the Retrievers following a 74th-minute goal by sophomore Justin Brunow.
- With less than nine minutes remaining in regulation, UMBC found the equalizer and went on to earn a 3-2 victory when Taylor Calheira notched the game-winner in the 99th minute.
- Two days later, La Salle struggled to find the finishing touch in a 2-0 loss to the Midshipmen.Â
- The two teams closed the match tied in shots at 13-13, and the Explorers held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks.
SCOUTING THE BRONCS:
- Rider (1-2-1) enters having won the last four meetings between the two schools, with the last coming during the 2019 season (2-0).
- The Broncs most recently fell to Saint Francis U., 1-0, on Sept. 5, with the Red Flash scoring what proved to be the lone goal of the match in the 51st minute.
- Zaki Alibou leads the team with a pair of goals including a score in Rider's 4-1 win over Central Connecticut on Sept. 2.
- Rider was selected to finish fourth in the preseason Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference poll, with midfielder Francisco Gomez Olano earning a spot on the preseason all-conference team.
