PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's soccer team looks to get back to winning ways this weekend as the Explorers host Rhode Island and Richmond in conference play at McCarthy Stadium.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS
- La Salle comes off a weekend with unfavorable results against a few of the preseason A-10 favorites in Dayton and Saint Louis. A 3-0 result against the Flyers was followed by a 2-0 defeat to the Billikens on Sunday to push the Explorers' record to 2-6-2 (0-2-1 A-10).
- Sophomore Jordynn Stallard proved one of the highlights of the weekend, the shot-stopper recording a strong weekend. After nine saves against Dayton on Thursday, the Sewell, N.J. native tied a career-high on Sunday with 10 saves against Saint Louis. Stallard recorded a .791 save percentage over the weekend action.
- Emily Banashefski continues to lead the attack for the Explorers, leading in points (6) and goals (2) on the team. Her 16 shots rank second, trailing only Kelli McGroarty.
- Freshman Shea Collins has recorded a team-high three assists on the year, providing a spark creatively from her spot on the back line.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
- Rhode Island enters with a 3-4-2 record overall, but have gotten off to a fast start in the Atlantic 10 with a 2-0-1 record. The Rams come off a weekend with a 2-0 win over George Washington and a 1-1 draw at Massachusetts.
- The Rams have kept it clean defensively, allowing just nine goals in nine games. The offense has been an area of inconsistency, only tallying seven goals on the season.
- Tali O'Leary is the only Ram with multiple goals with two to her name on the campaign. Her and Rebecca D'Anna lead the team with four points, the latter scoring a lone goal and leading the squad with two assists.
- Faith Hutchins has been a mainstay in the Rhode Island goal, playing every minute of the contest thus far. The sophomore shot stopper enters Thursday's matchup with an .813 save percentage and a 0.95 GAA.
SCOUTING THE SPIDERS
- Richmond enters with a 4-5-1 record, grabbing two straight wins to begin conference action before stumbling in a 3-1 defeat to George Washington the last time out.
- The Spider offense averages 1.20 goals per game, registering nearly 11 shots per match. Outside of an 8-0 defeat to Virginia, the Richmond defense has conceded 14 goals in nine matches.
- Jessie Prillaman has proven to be the danger in the Richmond attack, netting five goals and two assists this season for a team-high 12 points. Molly Weirman trails just behind with three goals and two assists, the two combining for 31 of the team's 109 shots.
- Claire Hinkle and Taylor Montague have split duties in the net, each starting five matches for the Spiders. The two have combined for four shutouts and hold a .627 save percentage.
