PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The La Salle field hockey team will return home for the first time since Oct. 2 to host Atlantic 10 opponent Davidson on Friday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. before hitting the road once more to visit Wagner on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.
The contest against the Wildcats will stream live on ESPN+ while the game against the Seahawks will be available to view on NEC Front Row.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle enters the contest with Davidson following a 2-0 weekend taking down both Richmond and Longwood.
- The 1-0 victory over Richmond marked the Explorers second shutout of the season and earned them their first conference victory. It was also the first time in program history that La Salle has defeated the Spiders on the road.
- The high-scoring 5-3 victory that followed at Longwood marked La Salle's third-straight win. It was the highest-scoring game for the Explorers this season and marked the first time under head coach Martu Loncarica's tenure that La Salle scored five straight. It is also just the second time in two years that the Explorers recorded a five-goal game.
- Tatum Johnson continues to be the front-runner for La Salle coming off of a three-goal weekend earning her Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week. She leads the Explorers in points (24), goals (10) and assists (4). She currently leads the conference in goals and ranks second in points.
- Ryan Curley has been a key piece to La Salle's defense this season. She has played in all 14 games recording 870 total minutes in the cage. The junior holds a .688 save percentage and has made 64 saves on 157 shots faced. She currently ranks second in the league in saves per game (4.57), third in shutouts per game (.143) and sixth in total saves (64).
- The Explorers backline also consists of Zhao Rodrigo, Malena Balduzzi and Sofia Pla, all of which have played integral roles to La Salle's defensive efforts this season.
- Cat McFadden has been a breakout offensive player recording the second-most goals on the squad. Prior to this season the junior had only tallied one career goal. She recorded her first multi-goal game against Longwood.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
- Davidson enters the contest at 3-10 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. The Wildcats have recorded 10-straight losses with their last coming on Sunday, Oct. 9 at home against Bellarmine. The contest was decided by a single goal, 4-3.
- The Wildcats three wins game at the start of the season against Georgetown, Towson and Queens.
- Charlie Kabelac leads the offensive efforts for Davidson. She has a team-high 14 points from five goals and four assists in 13 games.
- Anna Sharp leads the Wildcats in shots with 20.
- Sarah Minges is a defensive force with four defensive saves in 13 games.
- Genna Barge and Cato Roell have shared time in the cage this season. Barge has started six games and played in 10 making 38 saves on 81 shots faced. Roell has started six games and played in seven making 28 saves on 71 shots faced.
SCOUTING THE SEAHAWKS:
- Wagner enters the contest at 7-5 overall and currently holds a two-game win streak. Four of the Seahawks five losses have come from the road.
- The Seahawks most recently played Stonehill on Oct. 9 recording a convincing 8-0 victory marking their second shutout of the season.
- Julia Pastorino leads the scoring effort for Wagner with a team-high 21 points from seven goals and seven assists.
- Kira Mordvinov follows closely behind with six goals while Laura van Hamburg and Agustina Deharbe have recorded five apiece.
- Pastorino leads in shots with 43 followed by Deharbe with 29.
- Daisey Ruhle has recorded over 748 minutes in the cage in 12 games. She holds a .774 save percentage from 65 saves on 139 shots faced.
