TAMPA, Fla. – The La Salle women's basketball team takes on its second of three-straight road games at USF on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. The game will stream live on ESPN+.
SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle returns to action after a week of, most recently defeating UMES in a 10-point victory, 82-72, last Saturday. The Explorers look for back-to-back wins on the road for the first time since defeating Sacred Heart and Niagara earlier this season.
- Three Explorers ended the night in double-digits marking the eighth game La Salle has had at least three members reach 10-plus points and the second consecutive.
- La Salle is now 7-0 when leading at halftime having yet to concede a victory when holding the advantage after the first 20 minutes. The Explorers are also 3-0 when scoring 80 or more points in a game.
- The Explorers are currently on a two-game skid and look for their third consecutive win for the first time since a four-game streak earlier this year.
- Claire Jacobs led the scoring effort with a team-high 24 points from 8-of-18 shooting, 3-of-11 from deep and 5-of-6 from the line. The 20-point effort marked her third of the season. She has now recorded double-digits in seven games including the last two-straight.
- Kayla Spruill joined Jacobs in the 20-point club with 20 points on a perfect afternoon. The sharp-shooter put together a 7-of-7 performance from the field including six buckets from beyond the arc. Her 20 points marked her third 20-plus point game this year and 12th double-digit effort, the most of any Explorer.
- Jacobs and Spruill continue to serve as the team's only members to reach 20-plus points this year.
- Jacobs (12.8) and Spruill (14.3) serve as the team's only members averaging double-digits. Gabby Crawford and Charity Shears follow close behind averaging 8.4 and 7.3 points per game, respectively.
- Mia Jacobs set yet another career-high in points with 16. The double-digit performance marks her second of the season, accomplished in consecutive games. She went 4-of-4 from the foul line to mark her sixth time shooting 100% from the charity stripe including four games recorded four or more.
- Amy Jacobs continues to lead the rebounding effort for La Salle averaging a team-high 5.3 boards per game. She has recorded at least five rebounds in seven games this season including one double-digit rebounding effort (10).
SCOUTING THE BULLS:
- USF enters the contest at 9-3 on the season most recently defeating Marshall on Dec. 14. The Bulls started their season with an impressive seven-game win streak before losing back-to-back games.
- South Florida has yet to lose a contest at home this season and looks to continue its perfect record as it rounds out its nonconference home slate. The Bulls at 51-3 dating back to 2014-15 at home in non-league games having won 47 of the last 49.
- The Bulls 77-68 win over Marshall was led by Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu with a team-high 17 points. Elena Tsineke added 16 points in the contest while Daniela Gonzalez grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
- The Bulls roster is home to nine international players.
SERIES HISTORY:
- This will be the second overall matchup between the Explorers and the Bulls in series history.
- The contest marks the first meeting between the teams since 1987 when La Salle visited South Florida for the first time.
- South Florida holds the 1-0 advantage in the series with La Salle defeating the Explorers in a five-point victory at home.
- This will be the first meeting for the teams in the series in the month of December.
- La Salle holds a 4-3 advantage when playing on the road this season.
- A victory for the Explorers will break the Bulls win-streak at home having not dropped a single contest on their home court this season.
- The teams share familiar opponents this season, Temple and Villanova.
