NEW YORK - Seniors
Liz Mancini and
El Mancini both broke school records in the 3,000-meter run, and their younger sister,
Christine Mancini, set a new school mark in the 800-meter run, as the La Salle men's and women's indoor track & field teams made the short trip to the Armory in New York on Saturday, competing in Columbia's Dr. Sander Challenge.
A total of nine athletes earned top-10 finishes, including third-place showings from
El Mancini (3,000m) and men's senior
Ibrahim Kedir (3,000m).
WHERE THEY FINISHED (WOMEN):
- El Mancini, who ran the 3K in 9:20.40, and Liz Mancini, who closed in fourth place (9:21.88), both broke the old school mark set by La Salle Hall of Athletes member Rachel Papin in 2006 (9:22.69).
- The duo was edged by just one collegiate runner, Columbia's Nicole Vanasse (9:19.49), with former West Virginia standout Candace Archer winning in a time of 9:19.49.
- Sister Christine Mancini ran the 800 in 2:09.47, which eclipsed Ndidi Obichere's time from 2002 of 2:10.70. Her time was good for ninth in the event.
- In sprints, freshman Nevaeh Davis earned fourth in the 60m dash at 7.96, with her teammate Ahliyah Allen rounding out the top 10 with a time of 8.03.
WHERE THEY FINISHED (MEN):
- Kedir finished behind UConn's all-region performer Eric Van Der Els and Binghamton's Ryan Guerci with a time of 8:07.59. He was joined by teammates Taonga Mbambo and Ryan Ptack in the top 10, with Mbambo closing in eighth (8:15.64) and Ptack in 10th (8:18.59).
- Liam Rivard, the reigning NovaCare Student-Athlete of the Week, finished sixth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:52.13.
- Graduate student Luke Jaciw-Zurakowsky was the final men's athlete to earn a top-10 showing, as he finished eighth in the mile run (4:08.83).

- The men's and women's teams will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 11 at the Fastrack National Invite in Staten Island, N.Y.
