RICHMOND, Va. – The La Salle men's and women's track and field teams had four medalists, including 10K Individual Champion
El Mancini, following day one of competition at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The final day of competition continues on Sunday, May 8 with the conclusion of the Heptathlon/Decathlon alongside the finals of four field events and 11 running events.
HOW THEY FINISHED (MEN):
- Taonga Mbambo claimed silver in the men's 10K completing his 25 laps around the track in 30.56.81.
- Dennis Manyeah also claimed silver for the Explorers placing second in the high jump with a final mark of 2.05 meters.
- Liam Rivard moves into the finals of the 800m on Sunday following a first-place finish in the prelims with a time of 1:52.60.
- Alex Sandras finished just shy of the top 10 in the 10K. He claimed 12th with a time of 31:39.65.
- As a team, the men's squad finished day one in sixth place with a team score of 16. The Explorers currently sit ahead of Saint Joseph's, Saint Louis, Davidson, Fordham, Duquesne and St. Bonaventure.
HOW THEY FINISHED (WOMEN):
- El Mancini claimed the individual title in the 10K with a meet-record time of 33:54.62. She finished the race nearly two minutes ahead of silver medalists Lily Robinson from UMass. This is the second-straight gold for Mancini in the event having been crowned champion at the 2021 outdoor championships.
- Olabisi Adams claimed the bronze in the long jump reaching a mark of 5.86m.
- Christine Mancini advanced to the finals of the 800m finishing the preliminary race in fifth with a time of 2:15.02.
- As a team, the women's squad finished day one in eighth place with a team score of 16. The Explorers currently sit ahead of Duquesne, Davidson, Richmond, Saint Joseph's and Saint Louis heading into Sunday's events.
