La Salle Travels to Drexel for a Midweek Philly Rivalry Meeting

PHILADELPHIA – The 2-1 La Salle Explorers are set to face a Philly rival in Drexel Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle enters tomorrow off their second win of the season a 62-53 win over American University. Nicole Melious had her best performance thus far scoring 22 points, pulling in seven rebounds, and swiping two steals.
  • Melious solidified herself as the top scorer on the Explorers after Saturday's performance and is averaging 14.3 points per game.
  • Junior transfer Gabby Turco has started in all three games thus far for La Salle and is affecting the game on both ends of the floor. In the win over American Turco pulled down ten total rebounds, six on the defensive side and four on the offensive side.
  • Turco leads all Explorers with 20 total rebounds, averaging 6.7 per game.
  • Freshman Aryss Macktoon made her first start of the season against American and contributed in her 23 minutes of play. Macktoon has been consistent scoring through her first two games, but added in rebounds (8), blocks (2), and steals (2) over American.
  • The Blue & Gold have been strong defensively and are sixth in the A-10 Conference in that category. They are holding opponents to 59.7 points per game.
  • As a team La Salle took 75 shots in the win over American, the most field goals attempted in the young 2023-24 season.
 
SCOUTING THE DRAGONS:
  • Drexel comes into tomorrow sitting at 1-1 overall, getting their first win over Delaware State last Friday 65-33. They have lost their only home match up this season to Norfolk State 51-49.
  • Junior Amaris Baker leads Drexel in scoring thus far totaling 22 points, and averaging 11 in her two games. Baker is a transfer from Kennesaw State and did not play in last year's match up with La Salle.
  • Grace O'Neill is at the top in rebounds for Drexel having pulled in 13 total. In the loss to La Salle last season, the sophomore grabbed six rebounds and scored four points.
  • Drexel averages 57 points per game so far and is shooting 41.1% from the field.
 
 
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • La Salle won the early season meetup over Drexel last season 77-74 at Tom Gola Arena. Kylie Lavelle, no longer on the Dragons, put up 31 points against La Salle.
  • Molly Masciantonio had the most minutes of the returning players with 21. In those minutes she had three points, four assists, one block, and two steals.
  • Drexel leads the all-time record in this series 9-5.
