Explorers Led by Record Setting Performances from Rivard and Kedir in Two-Meet Weekend

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – La Salle track and field veterans Liam Rivard and Ibrahim Kedir broke two major program records at the BU Valentine Classic over the weekend while other Explorers saw success at the Fastrack National Invite.
 
HOW THEY FINISHED (BU VALENTINE CLASSIC):
  • Liam Rivard landed in the top 10 in the men's 800-meter placing sixth in the 324-person field. His time of 1:48.21 set a new program record for the race.
  • Dylan Servis clocked a time of 1:54.71 in the 800m good for 135th.
  • Finn Birnie was the first to cross the line for the Explorers in the 3K. The newcomer placed 86th in the 245-person field with a final time of 8:10.59. David Butts followed behind with a time of 8:24.21.
  • Ibrahim Kedir was the second Explorer of the race to reach a record-breaking time. The veteran placed 38th in the 5K clocking in at 13:48.23 to break the legendary record set by former Explorer Sean Quigley back in 2007.
  • MacCallum Rowe followed behind Kedir n 87th place with a final time of 14:13.84. Teketel Tyson completed the 5K in 14:41.69.
  • Christine Mancini placed top 50 in the 248-person field in the 800m clocking in at 2:09.18 for 49th place.
  • Jerika Lufrano recorded a mile time of 4:57.31 for 129th place.
  • Elizabeth Mancini clocked in at 16:02.8 to place 24th in the 102-person field for the 5K.
HOW THEY FINISHED (FASTRACK NATIONAL INVITE):
  • Olabisi Adams finished on top for the women claiming first in the long jump with a mark of 5.84m.
  • Julia Flood finished in the top 10 in the mile claiming the 10th spot in the 76-person field with a time of 5:07.17.
  • Maya Primas clocked in at 58.73 in the 400m for a new season-best time to move up to fifth all-time in program history.
  • Lexy Rivard claimed her first medal of the season bringing home the bronze in the 800m with a time of 2:16.39 moving up three spots in the final 200m split for the third-place spot.
  • Matt Bridger and Alex Sandras cleared the top 10 in the 3K finishing sixth and seventh, respectively. Bridger clocked in at 8:25.59 while Sandras recorded a time of 8:27.00.
  • Charlie Hazlett followed just behind the duo just shy of the top 10 in 11th with a time of 8:36.83.
UP NEXT:
  • La Salle will return to the track in two weeks for the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships, hosted by Rhode Island, on Feb. 25 and Feb. 26.
