Women’s Basketball Travel to Hawk Hill for a Nationally Televised Match Up

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle women's basketball will make the trip across town to take on the Saint Joseph's Hawks on Monday at 12:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Net. This game will be part of a Martin Luther King Jr. Doubleheader on CBS Sports Net along with both programs men's teams.

SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
  • La Salle comes off a strong showing against the Massachusetts Minutewomen on Saturday to earn their third-straight win. The Explorers now sit at 6-10 overall, and 3-2 in A-10 conference play going into the meeting with the Hawks.
  • Junior transfer Gabby Turco scored a season-high 17 points against UMass on Saturday in route to the 70-64 win. Turco alongside Makayla Miller, Nicole Melious, and Molly Masciantonio all contributed double digit points in the win.
  • Saturday's win over the UMass Minutewomen is the third in a row for La Salle, the longest winning streak of the season. The Explorers sit at 3-2 in conference play along with Rhode Island and Duquesne. The Hawks are 4-1 in conference play.
  • The La Salle and Saint Joseph's rivalry dates back as early as 1973 and the Hawks lead the all-time match up 52-16. The Explorers have gotten a majority of the wins in recent years, but primarily the Hawks own the series.
  • The Explorers are ranked in certain categories within the conference worth noting: 3rd in 3-PT field goals made (126), 3rd in opponent 3-PT FG percentage (.279), 6th in combined team rebounds (36.5 per game), and 4th in steals (140).
 
SCOUTING THE HAWKS:
  • Saint Joseph's last played on Saturday and earned their 15th win of the season over the Duquesne Dukes 77-62. The Hawks are 15-2 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the lone loss in conference coming against the Richmond Spiders.
  • Junior forward Talya Bruglar is the number one player for the Explorers to watch for. She leads Saint Joseph's in scoring this season averaging 16.6 points per game. Bruglar is shooting over 50% from the field, third in the entire A-10 conference.
  • Laura Ziegler is another standout performer for the Hawks. The sophomore ranks second in the conference in rebounding averaging 9.4 rebounds per game.

  • Tomorrow's game will be broadcast at 12:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Net as part of a two-leg doubleheader with the La Salle and Saint Joseph's men's teams.
  • Tomorrow the Explorers will be honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
