Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle women's basketball team will return to Atlantic 10 play to face off against George Washington on Sunday, December 29, with tip-off set for 2:00 pm.
Last Time Out
The Explorers finished their non-conference slate going 1-1 at the UCSD Winter Classic. The trip to California included a 70-67 win over Northern Kentucky.
In an airtight second half in which La Salle never trailed, the Explorers knocked down nine straight free throws in the final 77 seconds to secure the victory, with
Ashleigh Connor scoring eight in the final three minutes. La Salle had three players score over 15 points.
The Series
The Revolutionaries won the last meeting between the two teams a season ago. The last time the two teams met in Philadelphia, four Explorers sank 12 3-point buckets en route to a 74-65 victory on January 14, 2023.
Overall, George Washington leads the all-time series 39-9.
Connor Returns
In her return from injury,
Ashleigh Connor averaged a team-high 13 points across two games at the UCSD Winter Classic to lead the Explorers. For her performance, Connor earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 honor roll.
Connor is La Salle's leading scorer at 11.8 points per game.
With 42 made free throws on the year, Connor ranks among the Top-100 in the country and third in the A10 in free throws.
Quinn Emerges
In La Salle's victory over Northern Kentucky, freshman
Joan Quinn scored 18 points, a new career-high. She scorched the net from beyond the arc, knocking down 4-5 three pointers.
The freshman is averaging 8.1 points and has scored six or more points in 10 games.
Scouting The Revolutionaries
George Washington enters Sunday's game with a 7-5 record, most recently going 1-1 at the FIU Christmas Classic. The Revolutionaries are 0-1 in Atlantic 10 play after falling 55-87 against George Mason on December 3.
Trending Up
The Explorers have won six of their last 10 games going into this Sunday. After closing out the first month of the season with three straight victories over Rider, American, and Lehigh, La Salle opened up Atlantic 10 play with a 55-45 over Loyola Chicago before earning wins over Chestnut Hill and Northern Kentucky
Overall, the Explorers are just one win away from matching last year's win total.
Home Sweet Home
La Salle is 4-1 at the brand new John E. Glaser Arena this season, with both La Salle basketball programs combining for a 10-1 record at home.
The Arena features a 360-degree bowl with all chairbacks, state-of-the-art video boards, both in the center hung and multiple ribbons, a new HVAC system, completely redone audio and lighting systems and several more improvements to the fan experience that contribute to an improved homecourt advantage for the Explorers.
Stealing The Ball
La Salle is 43rd nationally with 11.1 steals per contest, which is good for second in the Atlantic 10. Sophomore
Aryss Macktoon leads the Explorers with 42 steals on the season, which is among the Top-10 in the country.
Macktoon recorded a career-high six steals against Northern Kentucky.
Crashing The Boards
The Explorers are 39th in the country with 14.6 offensive rebounds per game.
