Women's Track and Field | February 23, 2024
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - In a race that came down to the slimmest of margins, it was the anchor leg running of graduate student Christine Mancini that ultimately proved to be the difference as the La Salle women's distance medley relay team set a new school and Atlantic 10 indoor championship record, and earned gold for the Explorers on the first day of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday.
Mancini, who took the baton with a nearly seven-second deficit behind the leader, quickly made up ground and eventually crossed the finish line at 11:30.37, one one-hundredth of a second ahead of Richmond's Elizabeth Stockman to earn La Salle gold. The team comprised of Mancini, freshman Gwenno Goode, freshman Soleil Morrison, and sophomore Georgia-Rose Dawson, set a new school record and also shattered the prior A-10 indoor championship record of 11:34.45, set at last year's championship by the Spiders.
