SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- The Explorers come off a thrilling victory this past Wednesday against the Massachusetts Minutewomen 63-61. Makayla Miller sunk two game-winning free throws with four seconds remaining to put La Salle on top.
- The majority of the game against UMass was led by the Minutewomen, but La Salle stormed back thanks to the efforts of Jolene Armendariz who finished the game with 16 points, a season-high for her.
- Miller enters tomorrow's game on a double-digit scoring streak of eight games. The graduate student leads the Explorers in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game. In this eight-game stretch she averages 13.6 points per game and has totaled 109 points.
- A struggle for most of the season has been rebounding for the Explorers, but against UMass La Salle led in that category with 39 total, opposite the Minutewomen 32.
- The Explorers are ranked in certain categories within the conference worth noting: 3rd in 3-PT field goals made (153), 3rd in opponent 3-PT FG percentage (.284), and 4th in steals (175).
- La Salle broke a three-game losing streak in the win over Massachusetts on Wednesday. The Explorers sit at 4-5 in conference play along with Saint Louis. The Flyers are 3-7 in conference play.
- As a team, the Explorers take as many three-point shots as any team in the Atlantic 10 Conference with 27.0 per game. Nationally, La Salle is ranked 12th in the nation in that category. Marshall ranks first taking 31.0 three-point attempts per game this season.
SCOUTING THE FLYERS
- Dayton enters tomorrow with a 9-12 overall record, but they sit at 3-7 within the A-10 Conference.
- The last time out for the Flyers was unfavorable for them as they fell to the Saint Louis Billikens 87-61 on Wednesday. That loss marks the third in four games for Dayton.
- This series, however, has been one ruled by the Flyers. Dayton enters with a 27-16 record against La Salle and is sitting on an eight-game winning-streak over the Explorers.
- Last season's meeting was in Ohio and was won by the Flyers 65-51.
- Junior guard Ivy Wolf is where the Explorers need to watch offensively for Dayton. Wolf is averaging 12.5 points per game this season and although as a team Dayton is not efficient from the arch, Wolf ranks eigth in the conference in three-point field goals per game (2.3).
- Junior forward Arianna Smith is another name to be watch for. She averages 9.8 points per game and ranks third in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.549).
