Lewisburg, PA - Across the last three days, the La Salle men's golf team took part in the Bucknell Invitational at Bucknell Golf Club.
Following the conclusion of the first round, the Explorers sat in a tie for third place of 19 teams with a score of +6. La Salle was led by freshman
Kyle Virsik early, who fired a 69 (-1) on day one followed by a 72 (+2) on day two. While he never took possession of the lead, his strong play early helped him to his second straight top-15 finish.
Junior
Gavin Dosch led the Explorers overall, placing tenth while shooting even par 70 on the first and third days of play. He also managed 10 birdies, the most on the team and sixth most overall.
Sophomores
Payton Hawke and
Alex Yong finished third and fourth on the team. Hawke shot +10 across all three days, highlighted by a 72 (+2) on day two. Yong shot +12 overall in his first event as an Explorer, and finished four strokes under par on par fives, the best on the team and tied for sixth best overall. Senior
Armand Loscalzo rounded out the Explorers' efforts shooting +13 overall highlighted by a 72 (+2) on the third day of play.
Also participating as independents were graduate student
Jackson Debusschere and freshman
Declan McLane, who also made his debut as an Explorer. They shot +10 and +12 overall respetively, Debusschere made 36 pars while McLane led the Explores in par three scoring average.
Looking to build momentum off their second straight top five finish as a team, La Salle will get back in action in a hometown clash at the Big 5 Championship at Union League Liberty Hill.
