Powells Point, NC - On Sunday and Monday, the La Salle University men's golf team competed in the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate at Kilmarlic Golf Club. The event was originally scheduled for 18 holes on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday but was condensed to 27 holes on Sunday and Monday due to inclement weather in the area.
While the second round was split between the days, the Explorers fired off their lowest round to par all season, shooting even-par as a team. The Explorers were paced by senior
Armand Loscalzo and sophomore
Payton Hawke, who each shot a 70 (-1) in their second round and finished top-20 in the loaded field that featured many southern schools and Big 5 foes, Drexel and Saint Joseph's.
Junior
Gavin Dosch made an eagle on the 309-yard par four eighth hole in round two to shoot even-par. He finished his third round 10 strokes over par in a tie for 37th. Sophomore
Alex Yong and freshman
Kyle Virsik rounded out the Explorers' efforts shooting +13 and +14 respectively.
The Explorers finished among the top three teams in pars made, but failed to take advantage of the par fives at Kilmarlic, finishing 7 strokes over on those holes. Sophomore
Payton Hawke finished top-three in par four scoring average and pars made individually.
With only one tournament remaining on their fall schedule, the Explorers will next be in action at the Big 5 Championship at Union League Liberty Hill on Thursday, October 30.
