Men's Basketball Hosts St. Bonaventure on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The La Salle men's basketball team (5-13, 1-4 A-10) will continue Atlantic-10 play at home against St. Bonaventure (11-6, 0-4 A-10) at John E. Glaser Arena on Saturday, Jan. 17 with tip-off set for 2:30 p.m. presented by Army ROTC

Marshall Leads The Way

Graduate student guard Jaeden Marshall leads the team with 12.4 points per game and 30 3-point field goals. Marshall is shooting 55-of-62 (88.7%) from the free-throw line this season, the third-best percentage in the A-10 while ranking 41st in the nation.

After missing the game against Saint Louis, Marshall returned to the lineup at Richmond and led the Blue and Gold with 18 points, including three triples. 

Post Presence

During A-10 play, graduate student forward  Josiah Harris is averaging 11.8 points and a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. Harris has hauled in a team-best 18 offensive rebounds during A-10 play, the fourth most in the league.

A Storm Is Brewing

Redshirt junior forward Jerome Brewer Jr. is one of four Explorers averaging 10 or more points per game during A-10 play, including a team-high 12.4 points per contest.

What's Up, Dock?

Redshirt sophomore guard Rob Dockery is averaging 12.2 points and 6.2 rebounds during A-10 play. Dockery is shooting a team-best 52.8% from the field in five league games.

Block Party

Junior forward Edwin Daniel is fifth in the A-10 and 106th in the nation with 24 blocks. Daniel has blocked at least three shots in four different games.

Floor General

Sophomore guard Jaden Johnson ranks fifth in the conference with 21 assists during A-10 play. Johnson's 4.2 assists per game during league play are the seventh most in the A-10.

Getting To The Line

During A-10 play, La Salle is third in the league with 123 free throw attempts, averaging 24.6 free throw attempts during the five-game stretch. The Explorers shot 39 free throws against Saint Louis, the most by any team in a single A-10 game this season, surpassing the mark of 33 La Salle set at Rhode Island.

Starting Shuffle

Through 18 games, the Blue and Gold have rolled out 15 different starting lineups. 13 players have started at least one game this season. Josiah Harris and Jaeden Marshall lead the way with 14 starts apiece.

Rebound That Jawn

La Salle ranks fifth in the A-10 and 104th in the nation with 12.3 offensive rebounds per game, including 12 games with 10 or more offensive rebounds. During A-10 play, the Explorers are averaging 10 offensive boards per game.

The Series

This is the 40th meeting between the two programs. La Salle leads the series 21-18. The Explorers earned a thrilling 83-82 road victory in overtime against the Bonnies last season. 

Scouting The Bonnies

After a strong 11-2 start in non-conference play, St. Bonaventure is still searching for its first A-10 win. The Bonnies rank 41st in the nation in 3-point percentage, shooting 36.9% from beyond the arc, and 48th in free-throw percentage (76%).

Senior forward Frank Mitchell is second in the A-10 in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game, while junior guard Darryl Simmons is eighth in the league with 15.7 points per game. Simmons has also made 43 3-pointers this season, the third most in the A-10.

Next Up

The Explorers will be back in John E. Glaser Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 21, to face Dayton. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
