Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle Explorers return to action on Saturday afternoon, traveling to George Washington for an Atlantic 10 matchup as La Salle looks to secure a season sweep and strengthen its position in the conference standings.
Scouting the Revolutionaries
George Washington enters the contest at 5-8 in Atlantic 10 Conference play, currently sitting ninth in the league standings. The Revolutionaries previously fell to La Salle on the road earlier this season, 66-52. After winning three straight games by a combined 25 points, GW dropped back-to-back road contests at Davidson Wildcats and Saint Joseph's Hawks. In the loss to Saint Joseph's, sophomore Jaeda Wilson led the way with a career-high 20 points, converting 7-of-8 attempts from the free throw line. La Salle controlled the first meeting in early January, holding all Revolutionaries scorers under ten points. Ashleigh Connor and Aryss Macktoon combined for 35 points, while Macktoon added six steals in the victory.
Saturday marks the 49th meeting between La Salle and George Washington, with the Revolutionaries holding a 39-9 advantage in the all-time series. Despite the overall record, the teams have split their last six matchups.
Joan Bun Joanie
Since sporting a bun for the first time this season against Saint Joseph's, Joan Quinn has caught fire from beyond the arc, shooting 55 percent (11-for-20) from three-point range over the past four games. During that stretch, she is averaging 14 points, four rebounds, and 2.3 steals per contest. The Explorers are 7-3 this season when Quinn makes multiple three-pointers.
6ix Blocks from the 6ix
Scarborough, Ontario native Amiya Moses recorded a career-high six blocks in Wednesday's loss to Dayton. The six blocks tied for the most by any Atlantic 10 player this season and marked the highest total by an Explorer since Amy Griffin recorded six blocks on November 16, 2017, at Drexel.
Power in Numbers
Four Explorers have scored in double figures eight times this season, with La Salle holding a 6-2 record in those contests. Both losses came against Saint Joseph's.
Stealing the Show
Aryss Macktoon continues to be one of the nation's top defensive playmakers, totaling 85 steals this season. Her mark ranks top ten nationally and leads the Atlantic 10, putting her on pace to break La Salle's single-season steals record of 90, set in 2010-11. Macktoon has recorded at least one steal in every game this season and multiple steals in all but one. Joan Quinn and Ashleigh Connor also rank among the league's top 15, helping the Explorers lead the conference in team steals.
