PHILADELHPIA – After recording her first career hat trick in Friday's win over Temple, freshman Kelsey Haycook was awarded Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors, the conference announced today.

“I am very happy for Kelsey, she is definitely deserving of the recognition from the conference,” said head coach Paul Royal.  “She has been an integral part of our team all season long and is crucial on our attack.”

Haycook's three goals on Friday against city-rival Temple came in the first 51 minutes of action and helped propel La Salle to a 5-0 victory in the Atlantic 10 opener for both teams.

On the season, Haycook leads the Explorers and is second in the Atlantic 10 with nine goals so far during her freshman campaign. That mark leads all rookies in the conference this year.

The Explorers (10-0-1) will put their unbeaten record and shutout streak on the line this Friday when they welcome No. 16 Dayton to McCarthy Stadium.
