PHILADELPHIA – The men's tennis team defeated St. Francis (NY), 6-1, but fell 4-3 to Mount St. Mary's during competition this weekend at the La Salle Tennis Courts.

Freshmen De'Sean Fennell and Dale Fetterman both went undefeated in their respective singles and doubles matches on the weekend.

“This has been a long stretch for us – playing four matches in six days,” head coach Ed Colfer said. “The guys have shown they're in great shape and are playing with a lot of heart and focus now.”

During today's match against St. Francis, the Explorers swept the doubles point and then went on to record swift victories at 1, 2 ,4, 5 and 6 singles.

The previous day, with the match tied at 3-all, freshman Rob Kasinow pushed Patrick McGinley of Mount St. Mary's to a third set.  However, Kasinow would fall 6-4 in the deciding set after nearly four hours of play. 

Fennell saved five match points in the third set to push his opponent to a tiebreaker, which he went on to win, 7-5.
La Salle enters a big week with matches against Millersville and Kutztown on tap.
