PHILADELPHIA - On nine days rest, the La Salle women's soccer team will take the field on Sunday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium and take on Rider in their final home game until Sept. 23.
The Explorers (1-0-1) fought hard against city-rival Drexel their last time out and finished with a scorless draw.
Defensively, La Salle is becoming very tight across the back line with the help of starters
Jess Hopton,
Diana Allen,
Courtney Niemiec and
Ashley Chilcoat. Freshmen
Shannon Dwyer and
Dominique Ponente have also seen significant time on defense with very positive results.
La Salle has yet to allow a goal in 2011 through two games.
On offense, the Explorers had chances against Drexel but just couldn't find the back of the net.
Kelsey Haycook (pictured) was among several Explorers with multiple shots in the game.
All-time La Salle holds a 3-0-0 record against the Broncs with the last meeting coming in 1999.
