PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's tennis team closed out the fall season with a 5-2 victory over St. Francis (N.Y.).
 
The Explorers (7-2) were led by junior Chas Berenato, who won one match. The junior defeated Ricardo Garcia two sets to none.
 
“Everyone came out motivated today. It was great to get this win to end the fall season” said Berenato.
 
Berenato teamed up with classmate Joseph LaBate, but lost in a heartbreaker doubles match.
 
In singles play, La Salle received victories from De'Sean Fennell, Trevor Donovan, and Dale Fetterman.
 
Fennell and Donovan paired up in doubles number one position to defeat their opponent 8-3.
 
“We finished the fall season in high spirit. We need to rest up and get ready for our spring season, especially with the tough conference schedule that we are faced with in the Atlantic 10” said Fennell.
 
Fetterman paired up with classmate, sophomore Thomas MacLeod to earn the Explorers the doubles point for the match.
 
The final match of the fall season improved the Explorers record to 7-2 overall, including a 3-0 home record.
 
“This was a big win to end the fall season. We need to take all this confidence that we currently have and bring it to the spring season against our opponents from the Atlantic 10” said head coach Ed Colfer.
 
The Explorers will return to the court away at NJIT on February 2nd.
