PHILADELPHIA
- The La Salle softball team, winner of three of its last four games, looks to extend its momentum when the Explorers travel to Charlotte on Friday for an Atlantic 10 doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.

Scouting La Salle (6-24, 0-6 Atlantic 10)...

The Explorers have won three of their last four games, including a doubleheader sweep over Monmouth on Tuesday. The squad topped the Hawks 7-1 in the first game before taking the nightcap 4-1 thanks to a Kristin Travers three-run home run. The team then traveled to Bucknell on Wednesday, winning the first game 1-0 on Alicia Aughton's complete game two-hit shutout and her game-winning RBI, before falling 5-2 in the second game to snap the streak.

Aughton has had a spectacular week in the circle, picking up three wins and allowing only one earned run over the three-game win streak. She pitched two complete games against Monmouth along with a complete game at Bucknell. She has recorded a scant 0.33 ERA this week and batters have hit just .183 off of her in that span. Aughton has also helped her cause at the plate, leading the team in batting average with a .273 and hitting a two-run homer against Monmouth before doubling in the winning run at Bucknell.

Breanna DiTommaso is second on the team in batting average with a .268, along with a team-leading 22 hits. Liz Reed rounds out the top three hitters with .250.

Alyssa Bitsimis saw her first significant pitching action on Wednesday in the nightcap at Bucknell. Bitsimis went just over four innings and lowered her ERA to 7.00.

Scouting Charlotte (17-18, 2-6 Atlantic 10)...

Charlotte is coming off of a 5-0 win at Elon on Wednesday, thanks to a grand slam by Lorena Vela and a solo shot by Briana Gwaltney. The teams were scheduled for a doubleheader, but the nightcap was called after the third inning due to rain.

The Niners are 2-6 in the A-10 with a sweep over George Washington. They fell to Fordham, Temple and Saint Joseph's.

Gwaltney leads the Niner offense with a .340 average. Alex Rogers (.333) and Jackie Kleinsmith (.310) are also batting over .300.

Lexi Betancourt handles the majority of the pitching duties, leading the Niner staff with a 3.37 ERA along with 79 strikeouts in 128.2 innings pitched. She owns an 11-8 record in the circle. Katie Watkins also sees significant time and holds a 5.38 ERA and a 5-10 record with 82.0 innings pitched.

Next Up...

The Explorers return to Philly for one game at Drexel on Tuesday (4/10) at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Thursday (4/12) at Princeton.
