BALTIMORE, Md. – The La Salle softball team fell to Sacred Heart 8-0 yesterday before defeating Morgan State 6-5 and earning a decisive 9-0 win over Coppin State this afternoon. Explorer bats were cold against Sacred Heart where the team recorded just four hits including a double from freshman
Casey Lester in the first.
The Explorers turned it around against Coppin State, rebounding with a 9-0 win on just nine hits. Senior
Tristan Musho and sophomore
Kristin Travers both went 2-3 at the plate while freshman
Kendra Heyer and Travers each knocked in three runners. Heyer recorded all of hers with one swing of the bat with a bases clearing double in the fourth that gave the Explorers a five run advantage. Travers' hits included a double to center in the second and a single to left in the fourth.
Sophomore
Alicia Aughton gave up just three hits and walked none en route to a complete game shutout. She also had one hit and scored on a sac-fly from freshman
Genevieve Gaynor in the fifth.
The Explorers return to the field on Wednesday for a double header against Delaware starting at 3pm.
