PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle Explorers men's tennis team fought hard in their matchup against Chestnut Hill, before dropping it, 5-4.
Each of the singles victories that La Salle had earned, all went to three sets. The Explorers received victories from sophomore
De'Sean Fennell, senior
Trevor Donovan, and sophomore
Robert Kasinow.
“Even though it was the team result that we wanted, our team showed that no matter what the score is, they will fight until the end” said head coach Ed Colfer.
The Explorers were led by sophomore Fennell, who won his match in three sets. The sophomore won the first set 6-4, before dropping the next one 1-6. However, the sophomore won the deciding set with a 6-1 victory over his opponent, Yoann Pham.
Fennell, however, could not come away with a victory when he paired up with senior Donovan in the doubles match. The pair dropped the set 8-6, to Pham and Steven Say.
Donovan defeated his opponent in three sets, 6-2, 4-6, and 6-4.
Kasinow, trailed after the first set, but rallied to win his match. The sophomore dropped the first set with a score of 1-6, before rallying to win the next two sets with scores of 6-0, 6-1.
The Explorers also received a victory from
Hunter Selman and
Thomas MacLeod in doubles play.
Selman and MacLeod defeated their opponent with a score of 8-3.
“Everyone chipped in to help keep our team in the match, before dropping some important matches” added Colfer.
