Softball Falls to South Dakota and Loyola Chicago

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
ORLANDO, Fla. – The Explorers' softball team dropped two yesterday against South Dakota and Loyola Chicago at the Rebel Springs Games.

The Explorers (3-3) struck first in the top of the first inning thanks to a two-run homer by junior Megan Hodgson who drove in senior Liz Reed. Loyola answered in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs on two hits to tie it up.

The Ramblers broke the tie on a 3-run homerun by Lauren Moore that sent Loyola to five runs total where they would stay for the remainder of the game.  The Explorers answered with one run scored by freshman Casey Lester  but it wouldn't be enough to defeat the Ramblers as the final score settled at 5-3 Loyola.

In their second game of the day, the Explorers lost to South Dakota with a score of 10-1. The Coyotes had 3 3-run innings in the 4th, 6th, and 7th innings which pulled them away from the Explorers who managed just one run which came in the bottom of the 6th. Senior Tristan Musho doubled to right-center and on the next play advanced to third on an error by the Coyotes' shortstop.  Musho scored on a single to center field from junior Jamie Dellinger.

The Explorers play their games in Florida today against Grambling (9am) and Detroit Mercy (11am).
