Men's Tennis Defeats the University of the Sciences in Mid-Week Match

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's tennis team rebounded after a tough loss to Saint Joseph's with a 6-3 victory over the University of the Sciences (5-8) on Wednesday.

The Explorers (9-8) received victories in all of the singles matches, led by junior Chas Berenato. The junior won his match against Steven Galerkin in an exciting three set battle.

Berenato won the first set, 6-1, before dropping the second 1-6. After a tough second set, the junior won the tiebreaker 6-4.

“It was great to see Chas get out there and win. In the second set, he struggled to get some important points, but rebounded great to get the win in the third set” said head coach Ed Colfer.

La Salle received a key point from sophomore Thomas MacLeod and senior Hunter Selman in a doubles match. The pair won with a score of 8-3.

“Tom and Hunter fought hard to get a much needed for us in the doubles round” added Colfer.

Junior Joseph LaBate left his singles match early due to a shoulder injury.

The men's tennis team will be back on the court on Sunday when they travel to take on the Villanova Wildcats in a city matchup.
