PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team fell to city rival Drexel in today's game at West Campus Field, 7-2. The Dragons broke open the game with a six-run seventh inning for a 7-1 advantage before the Explorers gained one back in the bottom of the inning.
Through six innings of play, sophomore starter
Alicia Aughton allowed just four hits and one run. Junior
Megan Hodgson provided a clutch single in the sixth to drive in freshman
Casey Lester to tie the game at 1-1. But the Dragons answered ferociously with six runs in the seventh including a two-run homerun off the bat of senior Jenn Reading.
Sophomore
Kristin Travers added a solo homerun in the bottom of the seventh, her second of the season, but that's the last the Explorers would score. Sophomore
Alyssa Bitsimis singled to left in the third and freshman
Alyssa Sims reached on an infield single in the sixth t aid Hodgson in driving in Lester.
The Explorers now stand at 13-23 on the season as they gear up for three home doubleheaders starting on Sunday, April 21 against the Dayton Fliers.
