PHILADELPHIA – The Explorers' softball team split today's doubleheader against the Villanova Wildcats, losing the first game 4-0 but rebounding to claim the second, 5-3. La Salle was held to just one hit in the opener by sophomore
Kristin Travers which came in the second inning.
The Explorers found some inspiration during the break between games as they came back to defeat the Wildcats 5-3. Freshman
Mary Cate Scott earned her fourth win of the season as she allowed just three runs (two earned) and eight hits.

Kendra Heyer batted 3 for 4 with an RBI double that scored fellow freshman
Alyssa Sims. In the next at-bat, junior
Megan Hodgson homered over the left field wall, giving the Explorers a 3-2 advantage through the third. Travers notched an RBI double in the sixth, scoring junior
Danielle Cullen. On the next play, senior
Liz Reed scored from third on a passed ball to give La Salle a 5-2 lead. The Wildcats scored once more in the seventh but it wouldn't be enough as the Explorers took game two 5-3.
The Explorers host the Bucknell Bison tomorrow at West Campus Field in a doubleheader beginning at 3 PM.
