Heyer Homers as Explorers Drop Two At St. Bonaventure

OLEAN, N.Y. – The La Salle softball squad lost both games in today's conference doubleheader against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 7-2 and 5-3. 
 
Freshman Kendra Heyer batted 4-7 in today's outing, going 2-3 in game one and 2-4 in game two. Heyer started her day with her second collegiate homerun in the first game, sending it over the left field wall in the first inning. She added a single up the middle in the seventh.
 
Heyer continued her dominance at the plate in the second game with a pair of singles coming in the first and fifth innings. A shot up the middle in the first scored fellow freshman Alli Waddington while sophomore Alicia Aughton hit a sacrifice fly in the fifth to drive it Heyer.
 
Sophomore Kristin Travers batted a perfect 3 for 3 in the first game in which all her hits came in the form of singles to center field. After singling up the middle in the second and advancing to second on a wild pitch, Travers safely made it to third on a single off the bat of freshman Genevieve Gaynor. Another wild pitch on the next play allowed Travers to score. She added a fifth-inning sacrifice fly in the second game to drive in junior Megan Hodgson.
 
Hodgson had a strong showing in the second game, batting 2-3 with a pair of singles in the first and seventh innings. Sophomore Alyssa Bitsimis earned of pair of late singles to left field in both games, reaching in the seventh in game one and in the sixth in game two.
 
The Explorers (15-29, 3-17 A-10) return to North Philadelphia for their final three games of the regular season, all of which are home games starting with a Wednesday matinee against Rider scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM. La Salle then takes on Charlotte on Saturday, May 4 for a conference doubleheader set to begin at 11 AM.
