KINGSTON, R.I. – The La Salle softball squad defeated the Rhode Island Rams, 7-2, in the first game of two scheduled for today and tomorrow afternoon. It was a slug-fest for the Explorers who tallied three homeruns off the bats of sophomore
Alicia Aughton, junior
Megan Hodgson, and freshman
Paige Giunta.
The Explorers struck early thanks to a two-run homer from
Alicia Aughton, her third on the season. Aughton didn't need many runs to earn her eighth win of the season as the Moon Twp., Pa. native held the Rams to just two hits and one run (unearned) in 5.1 innings pitched.
Hodgson started the five-run sixth inning rally with a solo shot, her fifth of the year. After a base hit bunt from senior
Tristan Musho, freshman
Genevieve Gaynor singled to score junior
Danielle Cullen who pinch-ran to Musho. Giunta batted 2-3 today recording a double in the fifth and her first collegiate homerun in the sixth that scored junior
Jamie Dellinger.
The Explorers look to sweep the Rams in tomorrow's game starting at 12:00 PM.
