CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va – The La Salle men's tennis finished off their season in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament against city rival Saint Joseph's, 4-0.
 
"We had a great fall season, but we couldn't capitalize off of that momentum," said head coach Tony Green.
 
The Explorers could not find any momentum against the six seed Hawks. In doubles play, Chas Berenato and Brian Balico dropped a match in the first position, 8-2.
 
In the number two position, a pair of juniors, De'Sean Fennell and Dale Fetterman, dropped a tough match to the Hawks pair of Kyle Chalmers and Andres Urrea, 8-3.
 
La Salle could not find a solution in singles play, dropping three matches to drop the tournament match. In the number four position, junior Robert Kasinow dropped his match in two sets, 6-4, 6-0.
 
Fetterman went all three sets in the number three position, before dropping the match. The junior won the second set, 6-4, but was not able to capitalize off of that momentum. He dropped the third set 6-1.
 
"I am a proud of this team, it was a big improvement from a year ago. The record may not show it, but they improved with their fundamentals" added Green.
 
The Explorers finish the 2013-2014 season with a record of  7-12, ending the season with three straight losses.
