PHILADELPHIA: The La Salle men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to University of the Sciences on Wednesday afternoon on the Belfield Courts.
 
Junior Brian Balico put up a strong fight in the top singles spot as he won the second set 6-4 after dropping the first set 2-6. However, he fell in the tiebreaker 10-5.
 
The Devils grabbed the doubles point thanks to sweeping all three doubles matchups. Balico and classmate Mark Robinson fell 2-6 to Sosonkin and Nguyen in the top doubles spot. Sophomores Joseph Di Orio and Liam Rodriguez dropped a 3-6 decision in the second doubles spot to Novak and Kerr from Sciences. Sophomore Lane Bangis and freshman Brian Guidici teamed up in the third doubles spot but fell 2-6 to Phan and McLead.
 
Guidici was able to keep his matchups close in the sixth single spot but ultimately fell 4-6, 3-6 to Bill Bentley from University of the Sciences.
 
Robinson was able to keep things very close in the first set, in the singles two matchup, but ultimately fell 4-6, 1-6 to Borna Novak of the Devils.
 
Di Orio dropped consecutive 2-6, 2-6 sets to Nguyen in the third singles spot while classmate Rodriguez and Bangis fell in singles four and five by scores of 1-6, 2-6 and 2-6, 1-6 respectively.
 
The Explorers return to the courts next weekend as they travel to city foe Drexel for a Saturday matchup getting underway at 2 p.m.
