UPDATE: Wednesday's double header has been moved to Penn at 3 PM. PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – La Salle Softball faces crosstown rival Penn in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday at 4 p.m.. The Explorers enter the matchup after sweeping George Washington in a weather shortened series over the weekend, 10-1, 3-1.

Game one saw the Explorers jump out to an 8-0 lead and never look back. Junior
Mary Cate Scott ranks fifth in the nation with a 0.67 ERA on the season. Scott is 1-2 on the year having thrown 21.0 innings allowing only 2 earned runs while striking out 17 batters. Freshman
McKenzie Peace earned her first win of the season last weekend against GW hand has made three starts on the year as well.
Sophomore
Christina Bascara leads the team with a .409 batting average.
Michelle Hagarty has provided some power to the order for the Explorers as she leads the team with a .667 slugging percentage thanks to two doubles and two homeruns on the season. She is also tops on the team with five RBIs and six runs scored on the year.
Statistically sophomore
Mackenzie Obert is the toughest batter to strikeout in the nation. The transfer from Hartford has appeared in seven games and through 17 at bats has yet to strikeout at the plate. She also leads the team with three sacrifice hits on the season. Freshman
Taylor Rohrbaugh has made the most of her at bats this season with a batting average of .364 and a slugging percentage of .455 to go along with two RBIs on the year.
Scouting the QuakersPenn enters Wednesday after picking up a pair of wins over the University of the Sciences over the weekend. The Quakers won both games in 6 innings with identical 9-1 score lines. Game one of the doubleheader saw the Quakers explode for seven runs in the fifth and sixth inning to put away USciences. Six different Penn players notched RBIs with senior Sydney Turchin and freshman Sarah Rowley each scoring two runs apiece. In game two, the Quakers scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back. Senior Vanessa Weaver recorded three RBIs in the win.
Senior Alexis Borden has spent the most time this season in the circle for the Quakers. She has a 3-4 record entering Wednesday pitching in 10 games with seven starts throwing 46.1 innings. Borden has a 2.42 ERA and has limited opponents to a .192 average while recording 53 strikeouts.
Junior Lauren Li has made 14 starts for Penn and is near the top of the team in both average at .366 and slugging .488. She has recorded a team high 15 hits on the season including three doubles and a triple. She has recorded five RBIs while scoring five runs of her own. Senior Sydney Turchin leads the team with nine runs scored on the year. She has recorded nine hits on the year and six walks and scored 60% of the time she has reached base.
Sophomore Alexis Sargent leads the team with 14 RBIs on the season. She has one of the two Quaker homeruns on the year and has a slugging percentage of .421. Freshman Sarah Rowley has made the most out of her limited plate appearances this season. She is hitting a team high .444 with a slugging percentage of .556 in her nine at bats this year. She has scored four runs despite only reaching base four times and has knocked in a RBI of her own.
