PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – La Salle Softball heads to New York with a three game winning streak to take on Fordham in a three game set beginning on Saturday at 1 p.m. before a doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. wraps up the weekend.

Text Alerts Scouting the ExplorersLa Salle enters the weekend on a three game win streak after grabbing a 7-6 win over Penn midweek. The Explorers had to battle back despite jumping out to an early lead over the Quakers.
Suzanne Swanicke hit a three run homerun to give La Salle a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. But Penn would battle back and take a 4-3 lead in the third inning. Val Pineiro provided a pair of solo homers in the fourth and seventh innings while

Kristin Travers hit a sac fly in the sixth give La Salle the ultimate 7-6 win. La Salle swept a doubleheader 10-1, 3-1 against George Washington to open conference play last weekend.
Pitching has been vital for the Explorers so far this season. La Salle ranks fourth in the A-10 with a 3.73 team ERA. Junior
Mary Cate Scott leads the conference with a 1.11 ERA on the year allowing only 4 earned runs in 25.1 innings on the year. She has a record of 2-2 while notching 20 strikeouts and allowing only 13 walks and limited the opposition to just a .237 batting average which ranks fifth in the conference. Freshman
McKenzie Peace and senior
Alicia Aughton each own a 1-2 record on the year having thrown 20.2 and 16.0 innings respectively with Aughton holding a 4.38 ERA on the year.
Sophomore
Christina Bascara leads the team with a .409 batting average which is good for third in the Atlantic 10. Bascara also ranks seventh in the league in on base percentage thanks to a .462 percentage. She has nine hits on the year including two extra base hits while knocking in four RBIs and scoring five of her own.
Freshman
Valerie Pineiro leads the team with a .706 slugging percentage on the year thanks in part to a two-homer game against Penn midweek. Pineiro has three extra base hits in total on the year and has driven in five RBIs. Sophomore
Michelle Hagarty leads the team with six RBIs and six runs scored on the season. She has a pair of doubles home runs on the year and has started all ten games.
Scouting the RamsFordham enters the weekend after grabbing an 8-4 victory over Iona midweek. The Rams went 1-2 at Saint Louis last weekend to open up their conference schedule. Fordham used nine hits to generate the eight runs against the Gaels.
A high powered offense has helped fuel the Rams success in the early part of the season. As a team they are hitting .292 on the year which is third in the conference. Morgan Figueroa leads the Rams with a .542 batting average. Amy Van Hoven is close behind having started every game on the year for the Rams and hitting .337 with a team high four homeruns. She has also batted in 14 RBIs on the year while scoring a team high 20 runs. Van Hoven also has four triples on the year and is averaging .16 per contest which is leads the Atlantic 10.
Lindsay Mayer leads the team with 21 RBIs on the year. Mayer has used two homeruns and five doubles and has a slugging percentage of .443 on the year. Michele Daubman leads the team with ten extra base hits on the year thanks to six doubles and four homeruns in despite having just 12 hits on the season.
Rachel Gillen leads the way in the circle for the Rams having thrown 95.0 innings and amassing an 8-6 record. Gillen owns a 3.54 ERA and has thrown 7 complete games on the season while compiling 107 strikeouts to just 30 walks. Daubman made 14 appearances on the rubber for Fordham as well throwing 52.2 innings with a 3-5 record as well as one save on the year.
