PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team hosts Atlantic 10 rival Saint Louis for its home opener with a three-game series this weekend.

Scouting the Explorers
- La Salle is looking to rebound from a three-loss road trip at George Washington to open up conference play. 

- Senior Kendra Heyer currently leads the team in batting, boasting a .313 batting average and a .375 slugging percentage through 32 at-bats

- Junior Michelle Hagarty is leading the team in homeruns with four on the year.

- Senior Mary Cate Scott has earned five of the Explorers' seven wins on the mound this year, appearing in 14 games so far this season.  Scott has thrown the most of any of La Salle's pitchers this season, totaling 43.1 innings pitched. 
 
- Freshman Emma Schweigert recorded her first collegiate homerun a week ago in a 3-1 victory over cross-town rival, Penn.

Scouting the Billikens
- The Billikens lead the Atlantic 10 Conference in home runs (22), walks (110) and double plays (15); rank second in doubles (31), RBIs (96), total bases (268), assists (263) and runners caught stealing (10); and are third in runs (108).
 
- Mackenzie Peter leads the team in batting average (.350), home runs (nine), RBIs (22), hits (28), doubles (nine), runs (25), on-base percentage (.454), total bases (66) and slugging percentage (.825). In the NCAA rankings, Peter is 20th in home runs per game (0.33), 30th in slugging percentage and 50th in doubles per game (0.33).

- Alex Nickel is the Bills' leader in walks (23) and stolen bases (four). Nickel ranks sixth in the nation in walks per game (0.88).

- Brianna Lore leads the pitching staff with six wins.

- The Bills rank 18th in the nation in double plays per game (0.52)

The Explorers will host Lafayette in a midweek double header on Wednesday.  The first game will begin at 3 p.m.
