PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore
Francesco Mowrey picked up a win at the top singles spot and also earned a doubles victory, but La Salle men's tennis dropped a 5-1 decision to Drexel on Saturday afternoon.
Mowrey earned a straight-set, 6-1, 6-4, triumph over Drexel's top singles player Hamza Laleej. In doubles action, junior
Tomas Christian paired with Mowrey to pick up a 6-3 win over Laleej and Youssef Lahlou. The Explorers nearly won the doubles point but were denied in a close match at the No. 3 spot that saw the pairing of junior
Joe DiOrio and freshman
Braden Ward fall by a 7-5 score.
In singles action, Christian put up a fight against Lahlou at the No. 4 spot, taking the second set by a 6-3 margin before falling in the third set super-tiebreak, 10-5.
La Salle has a quick turnaround for its next match on Sunday, Jan. 22 as it takes on Lafayette in a road match beginning at 12:00 p.m.
