Tomas Christian earned a three-set victory at the No. 4 singles spot for the La Salle University men's tennis team, who dropped its Atlantic 10 opener to Fordham by a 6-1 margin on Saturday.
Despite dropping the doubles point to open the match, the Explorers were within striking distance in all three matches and fell at the No. 1 and No. 3 slots by 7-5 margins. In singles play, Christian won his first set by an impressive 6-1 score before falling in the second, 6-3. The third set went to a tiebreak, where the Glenside, Pa. product picked up a 7-6 (5) victory to gather a point for La Salle.
In other singles action, both sophomore
Francesco Mowrey and freshman
Braden Ward forced tiebreakers in their matches but each fell in straight sets at the No. 1 and No. 6 positions, respectively.
The Explorers (2-5, 0-1 A10) return to the courts on Thursday, Feb. 16 for a non-conference match against Delaware.
